Unit 4 homework 2
Question:
How did television affect the Vietnam War?
Answer:
The Tet Offensive did not cause LBJ to go on TV and tell the people of the United States that he would not “lose Vietnam.” Things like the My Lai Massacre, which happened in 1968 and caused riots in cities and on college campuses all over the country, could be seen on TV by Americans. This anger, which was made worse by TV coverage, led to the decision to pull out U.S. troops in 1973, which ended the U.S.’s part in the war. President Johnson gave the order to send more troops to Vietnam on February 7, 1965. This led to a full-scale military conflict between the US and another country. History has shown us a number of ways that the U.S. could help.
