Homework for students with disabilities should be used
How do you teach disabled students in a way that works?
Teachers need to be extra careful when giving out homework. If the homework is too hard, seems like busy work, or takes too long, students might tune it out or refuse to do it. Don’t give homework that students can’t finish. The work that students do at home should build on what they’ve learned in class. Consider what these teachers say about how to give homework so that it is clear and helpful:
• Make sure that students and parents know the rules about missed or late assignments, extra credit, and how to get around them.
• At the beginning of the year, make a regular homework schedule.
• Give the students work they can do.
• Don’t give too much homework.
